SummerSlam 2018 is fast approaching us. Many of the matches have been decided and feuds have started to progress further. The match card right now has some very exciting matches to witness.
We have got Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar lined up, whereas AJ Styles is going to defend the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe.

History Of WWE SummerSlam

SummerSlam (2018) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view event and WWE Network event, produced by WWE for their Raw and SmackDown brands.

 

It will take place on August 19, 2018, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It will be the thirty-first event under the SummerSlam chronology.

2018 WWE SummerSlam Matches

WWE SummerSlam is going down this year on Sunday, Aug. 19 live from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
And considering the importance of the show to WWE -- after all, it is the company's second-biggest pay-per-view of the year, it should be no surprise that the first two matches booked for the card involved two of the company's highest-paid talents in Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey.
The four-hour event, which could easily run longer as the card could contain as many as 15 matches, will begin at 7 p.m. ET with a kickoff show that starts one hour earlier at 6 p.m.

AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe For WWE Championship -- : The match fans have been waiting for is finally official with Styles and Joe -- two former TNA stars -- going head-to-head for the WWE title on one of the company's grandest stages of the year. This should be fantastic.

 Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns For Universal Championship --: Lesnar will defend his title for the first time since April 27 against Reigns, who beat Bobby Lashley just a couple weeks after losing to Lashley at Extreme Rules. In other words, Lashley has a case to make for a potential triple threat match, though we'll have to see if WWE decides to play that card.
With Lesnar looking toward competing in UFC, it will be interesting to see whether he drops the championship at this event or perhaps the next night on Raw.

 

 Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Ronda Rousey Raw Women's Championship --: The payoff for a months-long feud that began when Bliss cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase during Rousey's title match against Nia Jax, this may be a massive moment for Rousey and the WWE women's division.

Carmella (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte SmackDown Women's Championship -- : WWE did an admirable job building a winning streak that made Lynch whole again after so long of being second and third fiddle on the blue brand.
After defeating Carmella, Lynch earned herself a title opportunity and should be able to cash it in now that James Ellsworth is fired and unable to interfere.
Now Flair has been added to the match -- also after beating Carmella clean -- somewhat upsetting Lynch as her odds have decreased.

 Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship --: It looked like Balor might get the opportunity, but it will be Rollins getting yet another rematch against Ziggler after pinning him in a tag team match on Raw.
There is always the possibility that Balor or others get added, but this is the match as it has been made for now.
 Braun Strowman (h) vs. Kevin Owens for the Money in the Bank Briefcase --: Raw general manager Stephanie McMahon made this match with Strowman putting his briefcase on the line against Owens after the latter earned a victory in a steel cage match at Extreme Rules.

 Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. TBD for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship --: A tag team tournament is being held over the next few weeks to determine the No. 1 contenders in a match that will go on at SummerSlam. The finals are set between New Day and The Bar.

Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Drew Gulak for the Cruiserweight Championship--: Alexander has been virtually unstoppable as the top man on 205 Live, and his next challenge comes in the form of submission specialist Drew Gulak.
Since 205 Live has been rebooted under Triple H, Gulak's character transformation has been incredible to watch, and this should be a solid title bout in Brooklyn.

 Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton for the United States Championship --: The surprise return of Orton at Extreme Rules confused Nakamura and resulted in some pain for Hardy's nether region. Considering a heel vs. heel match would not make sense, the triple threat seems to make a lot of sense.

 The B-Team (c) vs. Deleters of Worlds vs. The Revival for the Raw Tag Team Championship --:
Business picked up between the Deleters and B-Team on Raw with Revival getting involved. It may wind up being a No. 1 contendership match for a shot at the B-Team, or all three squads could square off.

2018 WWE SummerSlam card predictions

These are all projected matches based on current storylines. None have been officially announced at this time.

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz: It has come as no surprise to see this years-long feud heat up in a major way as the path to SummerSlam has come into focus. This could be one of the top matches on the card if built right.

Bobby Lashley vs. Elias: It is becoming clear that this feud is headed toward a match, and it all started with Lashley's music interrupting one of Elias' in-arena concerts a couple weeks ago.

Andrade "Cien" Almas & Zelina Vega vs. Rusev & Lana: This one screams "kickoff show match," but it has been building over the last couple weeks on SmackDown with Almas and Vega getting clean wins over their counterparts. Another option would be Rusev vs. Aiden English should that on-screen disagreement continue.

John Cena vs. The Undertaker: Cena and Taker have not appeared on WWE TV since the Greatest Royal Rumble, and there is some unfinished business on Cena's end after the quick loss he suffered at WrestleMania 34. This could be the second match of a trilogy paying off at WrestleMania 35 if WWE wants to go in that direction.

Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre: Some tension was obvious when McIntyre helped cost Rollins an intercontinental title win during his iron man match against Ziggler at Extreme Rules. That continued in a tag team match on Raw. So why is Balor here instead of Rollins? Well, because there's nothing else for either of these guys to do right now.

Wrestling Observer Radio discussed the potential Royal Rumble match plans following the Survivor Series pay-per-view and indicated that the planned match between 'The Beast Incarnate' Brock Lesnar and 'The Demon' Finn Balor were all but cancelled, as Vince McMahon doesn't believe Balor is over enough to face Lesnar.

In case you didn't know...

It's been a weird couple of months for the former "Prince Devitt" with his booking in the WWE of late being inconsistent, to say the least. At TLC 2017 Balor picked up a star-making victory over "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles but was squashed by Kane on the following Monday Night RAW.
He was then one of the first four men eliminated from the Survivor Series main event, accomplishing very little in the match.

Whilst we had already reported at the end of October that the WWE was having second thoughts on the Balor vs Lesnar match at the Royal Rumble, it now appears that the company have completely cooled on the idea of the match.
Dave Meltzer, from Wrestling Observer Radio, revealed that the recent booking of Finn Balor indicates that Vince McMahon as soured on the Royal Rumble main event plans, because Balor isn't 'over' enough, hence the recent booking for the Superstar.

Finn Balor has hit back at these claims on Twitter, taking a shot at Meltzer's suggestion that Vince McMahon doesn't think he's 'over' enough.
However, if Balor truly isn't being considered to face Lesnar now, it seems that the WWE is struggling to find a replacement, as Meltzer goes on to suggest that the WWE don't want to feed someone important to "The Beast".

Personally, I think a Finn Balor vs Brock Lesnar match would be every bit as good and special as the Brock Lesnar vs AJ Styles match at Survivor Series, and if Vince McMahon can't see that then it's a crying shame! Besides, maybe if he wasn't booked so randomly, he'd be more over

For years and years many fans around the world wanted one thing and one thing only – to see The Icon Sting compete inside of a WWE sanctioned ring.

No matter how old he got or how far into his legendary career he was, the WWE Universe still knew in their hearts that there was always a possibility he’d leave the sinking ship of Impact Wrestling in order to swim in the fruitful waters of the biggest show in town.

In late 2014 it became increasingly obvious that the Stinger was going to gift us with his presence, and from the moment he debuted at Survivor Series, it was almost like we were all dreaming.
Finally, a long-term legend of the business has made the transition into the big time, and the plethora of dream matches that were on the table left us salivating at the mouth.

Unfortunately, over the course of the following 12 months, things didn’t quite pan out as many had hoped with Sting losing his debut bout at WrestleMania 31 against Triple H before going on to also fall to Seth Rollins at Night of Champions.

Some would’ve seen these as decisions that had to be made for the good of the company, but for a lot of people, it just seemed as if Vince McMahon was once again trying to put the final nail in the coffin of his long-standing war with World Championship Wrestling.

Sting vs Triple H was fun, but the finish was heavily criticized

As petty as that may seem, it’s not one of the reasons as to why Sting ‘left’ the WWE – and by left, we mean from an in-ring perspective, because he still makes occasional appearances courtesy of his Legends’ contract.
For those of you who don't know, the now 58-year-old suffered a fairly serious neck injury during his aforementioned match with Seth Rollins at NOC back in 2015.
He ended up requiring surgery in order to correct spinal stenosis, and while he claims that he could probably still wrestle to this day, it started to become clear that the end was nigh for the former WCW favourite.

Sting was offered the chance to headline the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016, and it seems like one of the major strings attached to that idea was that he’d retire from in-ring competition.
Which, just 24 hours prior to WrestleMania 32, he did. In front of thousands of fans in attendance in Dallas and millions watching around the world, the king of the baseball bat finally hung up his boots and walked away for the last time.

However, we feel as if there was more to the story.
It’s no secret that the dream match in the eyes of most was Sting vs The Undertaker, and when they decided to hold off on that taking place back at WM31, there’s no doubt in our minds that it would’ve peeved "The Vigilante" off just a little bit.
After all, that was one of his main reasons for coming to WWE and the fact that they risked holding it off for another year in order to benefit Triple H just seems a little bit silly.

The Icon deserved better

At the time it probably didn't bother Sting too much because he was being given the opportunity to wrestle on the grandest stage of them all, but in recent interviews, he’s pointed towards the 'Taker match as being his one major point of ‘unfinished business’ within this industry.
With someone like Sting, you can’t really have them pop up on WWE television every now and again, either, which makes his absence all the more logical when you consider that he’s now officially in retirement.
But as the man himself has stated on multiple occasions, the one thing that’s for sure about Sting is nothing is for sure.

What’s the story?

As noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a couple of new developments have emerged pertaining to the incident that saw WWE send Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn home.
Apparently, Owens seems to be on good terms with WWE brass, following the incident which saw him and Zayn being sent home by the WWE; but the latter’s situation is still quite volatile.

NOTE:

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn initially rose to prominence in the professional wrestling business, owing to their work on the indie circuit and ROH (Ring Of Honor) in particular.
Fast-forward to the present day, and the two childhood friends compete for the WWE’s SmackDown brand.
It was just a few days back that rumors suggested Owens and Zayn were ‘sent home’ by the WWE from their European tour due to the duo allegedly going against management directive opposite The New Day in a segment on SmackDown Live.
Nevertheless, it’s now being reported that the controversy as regards Owens seems to have cooled down; and the WWE higher-ups don’t find any issue with KO right now.
However, it was noted that the same can’t be said of Zayn; and the Underdog from the Underground may still be facing heat from WWE management; following the entire fiasco that saw him and KO being sent home.

 

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn currently perform for the WWE’s SmackDown brand. Whether or not the WWE higher-ups’ displeasure with Zayn affects his WWE status, will unravel over the next few days.

SUMMARY

Sami Zayn may very well be one of the most talented in-ring performers in the sport today.
Besides, Kevin Owens isn’t too far behind his friend either; and it’d be nice to see their backstage heat go away soon.

"The Monster Among Men" deserves a big WrestleMania match.

Braun has never had a match on WrestleMania's main show

There are times when we know the WrestleMania match card six months in advance, and then there are other years we don’t know what direction WWE’s storylines will take a month or two before the event.
It’s fair to say that WrestleMania 34, with the exception of the inevitable Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns main event, is one of those years where we still have no idea who’s going to be facing who.

One person who certainly deserves a big match at the show is Braun Strowman, whose WrestleMania history since he joined the main roster in 2015 hasn’t been the best.
Granted, he was involved in a brief segment with The Rock at WrestleMania 32, but it was a significant step down from a rumoured match with The Undertaker, and at WrestleMania 33 he was only on the kickoff show in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
In this article, we take a look at five possible opponents that “The Monster Among Men” can face in New Orleans next year.

#1. Triple H

Triple H and Braun were the last survivors on Team Raw

The poor souls who bore witness to the Survivor Series main event will probably have thought the finale, where Braun Strowman attacked Triple H for double-crossing him, was going to lead to a match between the two at WrestleMania.

That would certainly make sense. After all, “The Game” has put over babyfaces at three of the last four WrestleManias – Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins – and a win for Strowman would go a long way to further cementing him as a major star of the present and future.
However, the way the storyline has since panned out on Raw, it looks more likely that the battle for control between Kurt Angle and Stephanie McMahon will be the major storyline in the upcoming months.
If that is the case, expect to see Angle vs. HHH at “The Show of Shows”. If not, then having Strowman take on his former NXT boss wouldn’t be the worst idea.

#2. Goldberg

Goldberg's last match was against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33

Okay, so this is an outside bet and one that hasn’t been speculated, but wouldn’t a Braun Strowman vs. Goldberg match at WrestleMania 34 just be perfect?
For all Strowman’s positive moments since he became a singles star after the 2016 brand split, he’s won just two one-on-one matches on PPV, both against Roman Reigns, and his only other 'statement' victories have come against Big Show on Raw.

Goldberg hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring since the night after WrestleMania 33 when he spoke candidly about his six months with the company, and he ended his promo with the ominous words “never say never”.
If that wasn’t a hint that he’ll be back in the squared circle again one day, we don’t know what is. Braun doesn’t need 10-15 minutes per match to show off his technical abilities, nor does Goldberg. It may not happen but if the former Universal champion does return at WrestleMania, then Strowman is the man he should face.

#3. Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner

Braun was part of the WrestleMania 33 Battle Royal

If Braun Strowman is involved in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal for the second year in a row, it’ll be a massive wasted opportunity.
He was joint-favourite with Big Show to win the match on the WrestleMania 33 kickoff show but was eliminated after just a few minutes, with Mojo Rawley the eventual winner.

Despite Strowman’s heavy push in 2017, you just wouldn’t put it past WWE to base the Battle Royal around him again at WrestleMania 34 – but only if it’s on the main show and if it feels like a big deal.
Anything other than a singles match would probably be considered a disappointment, but an over-the-top battle involving behemoths like Big Show, Kane, Killian Dain and Lars Sullivan might be enough to satisfy Braun fans if he wins the whole thing.

#4. Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe has never had a WrestleMania match

Of all the major feuds that haven't yet happened between faces and heels on the Raw roster, Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe is the one that probably catches the eye the most.
You could have argued in the build to the SummerSlam main event both men were involved in that Joe was more of a face than Braun and Braun was more of a heel than Joe, but that’s no longer the case.

Since returning from injury, “The Samoan Submission Machine” has dismissed any favourable chants from the WWE Universe and destroyed babyfaces Apollo Crews and Finn Balor on Raw.
If Joe continues this wrath of destruction, he’s bound to run into “The Monster Among Men” somewhere down the line, and a blockbuster WrestleMania match between these two surely wouldn’t disappoint.

#5. Big Show

Big Show vs. Braun has main-evented Raw three times in 2017

If WWE decides to reintroduce the Slammys in 2017, then Braun Strowman will surely be shortlisted twice for Rivalry of the Year: once for his feud with Roman Reigns and again for his feud with Big Show.
Not many people would have expected it in February when we saw Strowman and Show square off in their first of three meetings on Raw this year, but the surprisingly entertaining battle of the big men has been one of the best on-off feuds of 2017.

“The World’s Largest Athlete” is slowing down his in-ring career and recently underwent successful surgery on his right hip after his last meeting with Strowman, which resulted in him being launched through a steel cage.
We’ve seen this match a few times already, of course, but if WWE decides to give Show one last big moment to bring an end to his 23 years in the business, then a featured WrestleMania match with “The Monster Among Men” would be a fitting way to say goodbye.

What's the Main Ponit?

Earlier today some rumours surfaced that the WWE was looking to branch out with content that utilises new media tools, with a Facebook LIVE show potentially making use of the possible intergender tournament that the WWE recently trademarked.
However, this alleged Facebook LIVE show is rumoured to have a severe impact on 205 LIVE.

In case you didn't know About This...

The WWE recently filed for a trademark for the 'WWE Mixed Match Challenge' which hints at a possible match stipulation, tournament or show.
The 'mixed' part also suggests that there could be a cool intergender spin to it. However, all of this is just speculation at this point.
Whilst the announcement of a new WWE show exclusive to Facebook LIVE is an exciting thing, it seems that it will come at a cost. Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported that this new show will take place in the usual 205 LIVE spot after SmackDown LIVE, meaning that 205 LIVE might become, well, just 205.

Sources with direct knowledge tell us the show would premiere in January and go live on Facebook after SmackDown goes off the air. This means 205 Live would no longer be filmed live. We’ve heard the idea of filming the cruiserweight show before SD Live has been discussed, but it’s unclear if this will be the plan going forward yet.

All of this is pure speculation until the WWE officially announced the new show when it will air on Facebook LIVE and what will happen to 205 LIVE, but I can't help but feel that the loss of the LIVE part of 205 will be a major blow to the Cruiserweight division.

That being said, there's a possibility that the pre-recorded aspect of filming 205 LIVE before SmackDown LIVE will actually benefit the show and the Superstars as they might be able to do riskier spots safe in the knowledge they can try again if it doesn't come off well on camera the first time.

WWE SURVIVOR SERIES RESULT THAT YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR IS OUT.


- Brock Lesnar of Raw defeated AJ Styles of Smackdown in a match of the year contender 

Three kick off shows were held at the 2017 WWE Survivor Series including one cruserweight title match 

- Team Raw won Survivor Series as Triple H planted a pedigree on Shane McMahon after taking out teammate Kurt Angle 

- The Shield of Raw defeated The New Day of Smackdown via pinfall in a three man tag team match.

 Brock Lesnar narrowly defeated AJ Styles in a match of the year contender in one of the two main events of 2017 Survivor Series. 




Their match up came just before Team Raw beat Team SmackDown thanks to a crazy twist which saw Triple H plant a pedigree on Shane McMahon after taking out teammate Kurt Angle. 

John Cena made his inring return for team Smackdown in the matchup but was eliminated by Kurt Angle. 

In other match ups, Baron Corbin of Smackdown defeated The Miz of Raw while Charlotte Flair of Smackdown Alexa Bliss of Raw via submission.
