About three hours from Fortaleza, in the north of Brasil, is the lovely beach resort Jericoacoara. The last part of your trip is by sand buggy, which gives Jericoacoara a taste of remoteness. Barra da Tijuca is a favourite beach among surf enthusiasts. The best tide is low to medium and the waves of Barra da Tijuca are on average 2.4 m/ 8 ft high. There are more beautiful beaches in the proximity of Rio de Janeiro, around Barra da Tijuca but also east of the city.

While heading for Baía do Sancho in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago (see below...), it would be a shame if you miss out on Praia do Leão beach. This beach is also known for its natural beauty. There is also a con: the location of the Fernando de Noronha archipelago is fairly remote, 525 km/ 326 miles from Recife and 350 km/ 217 miles from Natal (best accessible from Recife).
Moreover, Baía do Sancho is the most remote beach in Fernando de Noronha... On the other hand, it only adds to Sancho's mythical paradise reputation...
